Fiber Optic Services

Central Radio provides Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing and evaluation of existing systems. Our equipment can provide a laser printout of each fiber showing the specific loss of each mechanical or fusion splice in the span. A digital hard copy with all the information can be archived as a reference against future degradation of signal or cable cuts. All connectors fabricated by CRCI come with insertion loss measurements. CRCI maintains a complete certification course for its technicians. All test equipment is calibrated to ensure accurate readings. CRCI is also certified in shipboard installation and testing with adherence to MIL-STD-2042A.

Antenna Tilt Mechanism Services

The Antenna Tilting Group (ATG) is a modular electromechanical system for lowering/raising shipboard communication antennas when operational needs require this capability. Due to the harsh environment that the ATG operates in the complexity of the units and lack of a maintenance program, there is growing concern in the fleet over the material readiness of the ATG.

Central Radio has been serving as an AIT team for SPAWAR for providing the Navy with high quality, efficient restoration support to these degrading antenna-tilting mechanisms for over fifteen years.

CRCI is uniquely qualified to provide solutions to these aging tilt mechanisms. By evaluating the problems and applying new corrosion engineering techniques, CRCI can restore degenerating units to higher operational reliability then when they were first manufactured.

Antenna Services

Central Radio is a manufacturer’s representative for repairing and overhauling various antennas and couplers. CRCI has routinely performed these tasks for Military Sealift Command (MSC) on various ships. CRCI also matches various types of antenna networks to enable the antennas to operate at their optimal VSWR.

Central Radio overhauls various types of radars and their respective indicators. Some examples of the more commonly radars are:

Shipboard Communication Services

Central Radio can design and install WIFCOM systems on any class Navy ship, enabling communication to all damage control lockers and DC Central. CRCI also designs and install new LTR Trunked systems for ship wide communication.

CRCI also install and overhaul all communication couplers, transmitters, receivers, and peripheral equipment to manufacturer’s specifications. Some examples are:

Waveguide Services

Central Radio will fabricate, repair or install waveguide to any given dimensions. CRCI has the capability to test up to Fifty (50) GHz and has fault location software enabling the technicians to find the exact problem area.
